CEDAR CREEK CAVALIERS RECEIVES

 BREEDER OF MERIT

We are both happy and proud to have received this Award.

Breeder of Merit Award

"The Breeder of Merit program allows the American Kennel Club to celebrate our dedicated, passionate breeders who truly are the backbone of the sport and the foundation of our organization," said AKC’s Chief Operating Officer John Lyons. "Our Breeders of Merit are committed to both improving their breed through health testing and selective breeding programs, and proving their breed through achievements in the ring and the field. They are special and will be emulated by new breeders entering the sport. Being a successful breeder does not come easy. Years of hard work, vision, and a willingness to do the right thing are required to be successful.

To achieve the Breeder of Merit designation, breeders are required to:

Certify that applicable health screens are performed on the sire and dam as recommended by the Parent Club.

Hold membership in an AKC club.

Have a history of at least 5 years involvement with AKC events.

Earn Conformation, Companion and/or Performance titles on at least 4 dogs they have bred/co-bred.

Demonstrate their commitment to ensuring 100% of the puppies they produce are AKC registered.

We are very excited to be recognized as a Breeder of Merit here in Washinton State!

Gemma wins BEST IN SHOW!!

Bred By Exhibitor

Cedar Creek Ima Gem receives honor of BEST IN SHOW Bred by Exhibitor Thank you Judges Breed Pamela Peat, Toy Group Alice Inman and Best in Show Judge Maxine Beam. Vancouver, Washinton.

How do you get a BEST IN SHOW?

First you have to compete in the regular classes within your own breed. If you are selected as Best of Breed you then get to a dvance to the next phase which is the "Group". In the AKC, the groups are: Toy, Herding, Sporting, Working, Non Sporting, Hound, and Terrier. ". Each breed of dog belongs to a certain group; Cavaliers are in the Toy group. In the Toy Group you compete against all the winners of all the Toy breeds. If you win the Group you then advance to compete in the Best in Show. The winners of each group then represent their group for the BIS (Best in Show) competition. The winner of this receives the coveted award of Best in Show. Bred by Exhibitor is a special class. It works just the same as the regular Best in Show except for one major difference. The dog shown has to be Bred, Shown and Owned by the Handler. It is a testament of the quality of the dogs you are breeding which is recognized by different judges throughout the show. We are very proud of our home grown girl and her accomplishments.
